Press Release: Larry Lichter Reelected President

 

July 12, 2021 (WASHINGTON) – Larry Lichter, Vice President, Global Quality & Food Safety at McCormick & Company, Incorporated, has been reelected President of the American Spice Trade Association (ASTA).

Mr. Lichter was reelected to a one-year term as President of the ASTA Board of Directors on May 13, 2021, to ensure continuity as the association and the spice industry adapt to ongoing regulatory interests and COVID-19-related challenges.

“I am honored to be selected once again by the Board to serve as President of ASTA,” Mr. Lichter said.  “It is my goal to continue to pave a path for the Association to provide stronger leadership within the global spice industry.”

Under Mr. Lichter’s leadership, ASTA has continued its advocacy efforts to represent the spice industry on policy issues, with a focus on food safety and chemical regulations. ASTA also pivoted to offer virtual events and enhanced communications that provide comprehensive updates on key issues relevant to its members.

In the upcoming year, Mr. Lichter and ASTA leadership will focus on food safety and integrity, global advocacy and regulatory compliance. Over the next year, ASTA will continue to advocate for regulatory policies that are practical and achievable, focusing on harmonization and compliance with U.S. regulations and global standards and prevention of chemical contamination.

“As we come through this challenging time, I am looking forward to further enhancing our technical agenda and driving value creation for our membership and by extension, the U.S. spice trade and the broader food industry,” Mr. Lichter said. “Our work will help build the future leaders of ASTA and the broader industry by engaging the expertise of our long-standing and knowledgeable membership.”
