ASTA’s 2017 Fall Regulatory Workshop

The Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel will host this year’s workshop to be held on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

The Regulatory Workshop will cover a range of key topics, including FDA’s perspective on how initial FSMA inspections are going followed by industry’s view of those inspections. Other topics to be addressed include an update on the Technical Assistance Network (TAN), a Washington Update and an overview of the new Nutrition Facts label. The day will conclude with important information on ASTA’s efforts to secure import tolerances on pesticide residues and other key ASTA projects.

1:15 p.m. – 2:15 p.m. Nutrition Facts Labeling FDA has delayed the original July 2018 deadline for the new Nutrition Facts panel, although many companies are moving forward with their plans to ensure compliance. What will the new requirements mean for the food industry in general and how will they impact food manufacturers and the spice.

2:15 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Pesticide Residues – An Update on the Regulations and Efforts to Secure Import Tolerances for Spices In recognition of some of the challenges facing the spice industry, the Environmental Protection Agency is looking at a pilot project to facilitate approval of import tolerances for pesticides residues on spices.
